数年前テーマをもらってなんとなく動物のスツールを本革で制作したとき、動物から剥いだ皮で動物の形のカワイイものを作っていることに、ふと人間ヤバイ…と思いました。
人間のために動物を殺したり交配して選別したりするなんて酷いと思いつつ、それでも脈々と続く、生きるために肉を食べて産業する人間の文化の重さにひれ伏しながら、家畜を供養するつもりで制作しています。
イベリコ豚はドングリを食べさせて肥育することから、ドングリのなる木、その中でも雰囲気の合うナラを選んで使用しています。
A few years ago, I was given a theme and somehow made an animal stool out of genuine leather.
I think it's terrible to kill, breed and select animals for the sake of humans, but even so, I feed livestock while bowing down to the weight of the human culture that continues to live by eating meat to live. I'm making it on purpose.
Iberian pigs are fattened by feeding them with acorns, so I choose trees that grow acorns, and among them oak trees that match the atmosphere.
